Global Community Bike Ride: Juneteenth
June 18, 2026 @ 5:00PM — 7:00PM Eastern Time (US & Canada) Add to Calendar
A community bike ride reflecting on freedom, belonging, and the unfinished work of democracy.
As part of the Civic Futures series on democracy and civic engagement, this ride invites participants to reflect on how democracy is shaped by questions of belonging, power, and historical memory.
In recognition of Juneteenth, we will explore the ongoing work of reckoning and reconciliation, and consider how histories of exclusion and resilience continue to shape who democracy is for and how it is practiced today.
Centered in Pittsburgh’s Hill District, a historic hub of Black freedom, culture, and community life, this no-drop community ride connects place, history, and civic identity.

Ride through the Hill District, exploring its legacy as a center of Black culture, creativity, and civic life
