Emerging Global Cities: A Conversation With Ariel Armony

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.

Registration is required, and we unfortunately cannot accommodate walk-ins.

Leveraging his expertise on what makes a city truly global, Dr. Ariel Armony will be in conversation with Dr. Gabriella Gonzalez of Richard King Mellon Foundation to discuss his new book, Emerging Global Cities: Origin, Structure, and Significance.

Dr. Ariel Armony is University of Pittsburgh Vice Chancellor of Global Affairs and Director of the University Center for International Studies. His book, co-authored with Dr. Alejandro Portes, traces the transformations of Dubai, Miami, and Singapore to identify the common traits that allow urban places to become “emerging global cities” — centers of commerce, finance, art, and culture for entire regions.

Emerging Global Cities: A Conversation with Dr. Ariel Armony will take place on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at RAND Pittsburgh.

Doors open at 5PM. The program will run from 6PM–7:30PM with time for a moderated Q&A with the audience. We invite you to arrive at 5PM to connect with each other and enjoy Middle Eastern appetizers from Salem’s Market & Grill along with refreshments.

Space is limited! Reserve your FREE spot today.

We're excited to partner with Neighborhood Allies and Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on this event.

This program is part of the 2023 J. T. Ryan Jr. Memorial Lecture Series, presented by the John T. Ryan Memorial Fund.
